Project TELAMON aims to address the positioning of soldier in urban/indoor environment under GPS denial situation as well as the communications protocol of the soldier body sensors. The project will develop algorithms/modules for three independent areas, i.e. Urban Area Scene-Based Localisation (USBL), Indoor Relative Positioning System (IRPS) and a Soldier Body Area Network (SBAN). The objective of the project is to develop energy efficient and interference management for SBAN to interconnect various miniature sensors around a human body. The nodes in a SBAN can be centrally coordinated by a hub and thus, allowing a large number of devices to coexist in a single network without having them to interfere with each other. However when multiple soldiers wearing SBANs come into range of each other interference may become imminent and coordination by multiple hub may become impossible. Hence, any interference mitigation scheme will need to adapt faster than the rate at which the network topology changes if it is to be successful in minimising interference.
