Instructors’ Profile:

GOH Thong Ngee is formerly Head of Department of Industrial Systems and Management and served as Dean of Engineering at the National University of Singapore. Prof Goh has been internationally recognized for his expertise in quality engineering and management; he is Founding Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore, Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), as well as Academician of the International Academy for Quality (IAQ). He has been named “Educator of the Year” by the IEEE Engineering Management Society, is the inaugural recipient of the IAQ Masing Book Prize for co-authoring the book: Six Sigma – Advanced Tools for Black Belts and Master Black Belts (John Wiley), and a recipient of the William Hunter Award as well as the Eugene Grant Medal of the ASQ. Prof Goh has served variously as advisory board member, external examiner or reviewer for universities and research agencies in Asia, Europe, North America and Australia. A GE-certified Six Sigma trainer, Prof Goh is a former board member of the Singapore Productivity Board and of the Defence Science and Technology Agency. With several decades’ track record in teaching, research as well as consulting and training in a wide spectrum of organizations. 

TANG Loon Ching, is a Professor at the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management (ISEM) in National University of Singapore (NUS). He is currently Director of Temasek Defence Systems Institute and a member of the Advisory Board of the Singapore Innovation and Productivity Institute. He has served as the Head of ISE Department from 2008-2015 and the elected Region Vice President (Asia) of Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE); 2013-16.

Dr Tang is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Quality and Reliability Engineering International from 2016 and has been on the editorial review board of the Journal of Quality Technology, the flagship journal of American Society for Quality, since 2006, among others. He has published widely in many leading international journals in the field of IEOM and was presented several best paper awards. More recently, he is named 2014 IEOM Outstanding Educator by the IEOM Forum and is elected as the Fellow of International Society of Engineering Asset Management.

Besides being active in the forefront of research in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, LC Tang has also been engaged as consultant/trainer by many government agencies and MNCs in their enterprise transformation initiatives. To-date, he has trained and mentored more than 100 Master Black Belts and provided training to more than 3000 analysts, engineers and managers, from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Israel, China, USA, Indonesia, India and the Philippines in the areas of Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma, Engineering Asset Management, Operations Research and Reliability Engineering.
